Zaatar (also written or Z'atar Za'aatar, Zahatar or Zatar) is a blend of spices that has become popular in the Middle East for centuries to flavor meat and pita bread. It is a mixture of wild oregano, hyssop, toasted white sesame seeds, sumac and salt. Sometimes, other herbs such as hyssop (as mentioned in the Bible), thyme and cumin and fennel seeds are added. Several versions of Za'atar will vary in proportion, so I recommend that once should be one that you like,We should keep. If you buy a premium blend zaatar last long. I recommend that you keep in the freezer - this is a tip I tell my neighbors of Israel, which sees it as the taste of freshly learned - although this is not necessarily required and can be kept in a jar in a closet.
The Lebanese Zaatar believe that the mind alert and keeps the body strong and give their children a sandwich with zaatar surveys before the meeting. It 'also popular in Turkey,Syria, Jordan, Israel and North Africa (where this mix is off). And 'flavor of meat and poultry and vegetables are used, and can be mixed with olive oil to make a spread. Zaatar is delicious sprinkled on hummus or two Laban (yogurt expired, until it becomes a creamy cheese). My favorite is when you are on a pita bread or Foccacia with a little olive oil and is largely the oven - makes a delicious pizza with herbs, or you can dribble with olive oil and mix on a donut for atasty snack.
Once you start zaatar in your kitchen will always use more options, because it is so delicious.
Zaatar is expensive in the United Kingdom / United States and is found in small amounts in specialized stores or supermarkets that sell food at a rather high price. You should then consider buying in large quantities directly from the source, or search for it on eBay. You can use it to share with your friends, or buy some 'beautiful vases and give it away as a present low price. And 'to be sureestimated.
